I just went to www.lfs.net, logged in with my username and WEB password, clicked on account details, and I have the option to enter both new WEB and GAME passwords from that form.

Quote from Degats :The tyres cool down after a few laps due to tyre wear - the tread thickness reduces, so becomes less insulating. In other words, the tread can't hold as much heat, so the tyres cool down quicker.

While true, this also means the tyre should also warm faster when generating heat (given the same energy input to the system).

In my own tyre heating model I have found that temperatures simply swing more as the tread wears, and if anything the average temperature continues to increase as the heat conducts deeper in to the carcass, sidewalls, and pressurised air, meaning less heat can be lost from the tread into these areas.

I don't see why the LFS model would differ from my own in this regard.

You've not heard of emailing photographs then?

That looks really interesting, thanks. Sadly I've got a friend visiting that weekend and that's probably a bit far to drag him. It's not up north enough!

Quote from P5YcHoM4N :double digits for a 0-60 time is rather laughable, which is why I picked it.

What, 11 days? I would have thought you could reach it in well under a week.

It was in the moderator forum. That's the only hidden area. It's really not very interesting. If you must know, the post was letting us (the other mods) know he'd given that infraction, and his reason(s).

Quote from Furiously-Fast :Infraction = post.

Nope. When we give an infraction, it sends a PM. This is separate to post count.

Quote from rockclan :Altough Scawen got 4000 posts, I can't find his latest post anywhere.

Maybe on a hidden section, where they are preparing the new test patch for next Friday?

Hidden for normal users yes, but sadly nothing patch related. I can see all the forum here so the beta testing discussion must happen elsewhere.

Quote from The Very End :I could start rambling BS about a certain rallypack and all that

From what I've heard, that was only ever an idea, no work ever started on it. This is why it was only ever mentioned once. The devs have had no doubt had many other ideas and tested other things out. I think if they talked about everything they thought about or toyed with, people would just be far more disappointed by the progress that does happen.

It's an interesting motorsport related event but if you only want to see racing action, skip it and stick with the Goodwood Revival instead.

Quote from bunder9999 :wouldn't you have to eat a lot (and i really mean a lot), to get any of it's effects?

You can compromise between smoking and eating by turning into a drink (i.e. Green Dragon, mixed with something).

Hey, that's not bad for you, it's quite good for you in fact. It's the falling that isn't so good...

The free content already serves as a perfectly adequate demonstration of Live for Speed.

Quote from amp88 :I'd ask them why they were abusing alcohol. I honestly don't know if I would even try to punish them.

See now with me it was the other way round, my parents actively encouraged me to drink when I was 16, and never said anything if I ended up ill from consuming too much.

Quote from no_one :As a person who has suffered badly from psycosys from thc I feel that mj should remaid banned.

Why? Surely you've learned that this drug is one that really doesn't agree with you, so you choose not to take it anymore. There are people who can't drink alcohol at all either, due to serious health issues. Clearly it being illegal didn't stop you from trying it so what difference would it being legalised have made to you?

The hosts forum is for people to talk about hosting, not for server annoucements. I see there are a couple in there atm, but I'm going to move them out. Server talk can be kept in general discussion or leagues & events, depending on which is more applicable to your server.

It still says £55 in the first post, btw.

Quote from amp88 :Hot brake discs and pads radiate heat through the hub to the wheel rim and into the tyres.

Indeed they do. Much more important is the heating of the internal air thanks to the hot rim.

Quote from RasmusL :Huh?

The tyre model itself doesn't need to change at all. It just needs to know what temperature the tread is. How that thermal energy is generated and how the rubber heats is a separate system entirely.

Quote from Major Del :I hope that the tyre physics will be almost future proofing the game, so if features such as wet weather, track temperature, brake temp which all affect car handling and tyres are implemented then the perfect tyre model that Scawen is working on can be applied to these. Perhaps saving the trouble of rewriting the tyre physics every time such a feature is added to the game in the future.

Track and brake temperatures would not require a rewrite of the tyre model. Wet weather may require extensions to the tyre model, depending upon the implementations used.

Just adding my support as an Opera user.

Used Firefox for quite a while, still have it installed (3.5 admittedly). I like the speed dial feature and the tab previews in Opera though.

Quote from danthebangerboy :No ads on any site, ever for me, regardless of browser. Theres no place like 127.0.0.1

Nice. Will try that out.

It's not pathetic. It's a good suggestion that would add diversity and new interest to the sim. Whether you personally find these ideas exciting is irrelevant, there will be people that do and that's all that matters. No doubt there are things you'd like that others wouldn't, would you like their opinion to rule in those cases?

Quote from Zipppy :another reason is that they don't have that annoying ringing noise CRTs have.

Only worn out CRTs should make a high pitched noise. You should only get a very quiet buzz from a CRT.

When they make LCDs that can beat the 2048x1536 resolution of my CRTs (or they wear out, but they've been good ~10 years so far), I'll upgrade. Until then I'll live with my behemoths in the safe knowledge they'll never be stolen. Never need put the heating on either.

There will be one game. It will have every vehicle. Ever. It will model everything. All data will be correct. It will be available in every language. On every plaform. All will be online compatible. There will be one game world. It will have every track. That every has been, is, or will be. Every town, city, road, river, everything. All there. Drive from track to track. Take boats across the ocean. Run pedestrians over. Get out on foot and sit in the grandstands. Or walk to the hot dog stand, steal some food, get chased by the guards, take them out with your machette, then take out the TV helicopter with the rocket launcher you stole from the army barracks a day before, before stealing a rally car and completing the Paris-Dakar rally. Awesome sauce.

Oh, and it will be bug free.
